I mistakenly posted tgis in the OMC forum, so I am trying again.
I have a 1978 898 Mercruiser that needs the impeller in the lower unit changed. Is it possible to do it in the water. The boat ramp is closed because if he holiday weekend.

nope, cant split the unit and fill it with oil
